Day 1 - Travel to London

I woke up to the alarm telling me that today was finally the day we travelled to London for our overnight stay

Joss was already out walking the dog and a tap on the bedroom door had our house-sitter for the week, Eloise, walking in

It was only 8:30 - I’d never have thought she’d be here this early and judging by the number of bags she brought over she must have been up since 5

We treated everyone to a ‘spoons breakfast

The rest of morning had Joss tittivating the house and finishing the packing before I was able to check in online

There was no stopping us now - a tearful (for some) farewell and we were off

The journey to the hotel was good but I felt I still needed a good omen for the trip to come

The room number was omen enough ...

We then went to the pub and it had a fine selection of ales

3 Japanese guys walked in and asked what beers they had and all of them tried the ales and ended up with - Fosters - typical

We had a few beers and settled our stomachs with a burger

It was still early but we called it a night - at £5 per pint it wasn’t a cheap night and I didn’t want us to feel bad for the big journey tomorrow

Back at the hotel Joss was gutted by the lack of double deckers and so settled for a Mars, whilst I very much enjoyed the flapjack

Water has been drunk - food has been eaten - stage 1 of the holiday successfully completed
