Day 2 - Travel to Toronto

Although the room was quiet it was still a fairly disturbed sleep as the pillow was a bit flimsy and the bed hard

Good job we were drinking last night - beer - the cure to almost all ailments

The Spanish hostess at the all you can eat breakfast visibly snickered as we said we were in room 666

I guess that kind of irony is the same all over the world

For once my eyes were too big for my belly

Off then to the pod and despite leaving the hotel from the wrong door we eventually found it

Weeeeeeeee

We arrived at the airport at 8:30 only to find we couldn’t check our bags in until 10:10 boo

There goes my plan for a breakfast time beer - it doesn’t count as being an alcoholic if you’re in an airport - those are the rules

We finally made it through and made our way to what we know - Wetherspoons

A joyful hour or so was spent there - of course I used the app - and then we were off to the departure gate

The gate was so far away that we had to get a train to get there - despite it still coming under the umbrella of terminal 5

We sat as the great unwashed queued to get into a plane that wouldn’t let them in until they were called - mugs

Eventually we were on and had window and middle seats - not what I thought I’d paid for but heck - that’s for another time

We all had tv’s in the seats in front and if you could put up with the selfish bastards putting their head in your lap all was fine

It was like a Bournemouth away trip on the coach

We were then offered refreshments - the lady next to me went for apple juice - Joss and I went for wine - lovely

Then dinner was served and I went for the vegetarian pasta and Joss the Thai green curry

Again we were offered drinks and I asked if we were limited to 1

No she said

How happy was I

The food was ok and Jumanji, Kingsman and The Adjustment Bureau made the journey go quicker - or was that the wine?

We had to fill in immigration sheets and the lady next to me kept asking my advice despite me not having a clue

I guess we will both be exported then

Not before we have mini MAGNUMS THOUGH !!!

After we finally got our bags off the carousel we walked again for what seemed like miles to the taxi pick up point

We got the woman in charge to call the taxi through that we’d ordered and he soon turned up

English wasn’t his first, second or perhaps even his third language so my attempts to find out about a bit more about Toronto I gleaned it was hot, and that the traffic was bad

Well he was right - it was hot AND the traffic was bad

It took over an hour to get to the Chelsea Hotel and for once we’ve booked a hotel that looks ok

We “unpacked” at about 6:30 and as that was 11:30 at night at home, Joss was crashing hard so we just ate at the hotel

I went for a burger - it probably wouldn’t be too much food

Gulp

Yes I did eat most of it and help Joss with her pasta - don’t judge me!!

Back at the room and I’m hoping to stay awake as long as I can to acclimatise

I’m still feeling all righzzzzzzzzzz
